We believe in following the interests of our campers, and the surprising adventures that we discover each day, hence we keep our daily schedule flexible so we can be a little wild and free!
8:30-9:00
Campers arrive: drop off while greeted by counselors; head to open art and play stations.
9:00-9:20
Opening Circle-- to greet each other, name games, sing our camp song and reflect on our "C" word of the Day: Curiosity, Creativity, Caring, Connection, Confidence...
9:30-10:30
All Out in Nature--During the cooler morning hours we hike, paint and draw on the trail, identify birds and insects and plants, and have scavenger hunts and games outdoors. Campers document their daily experiences in nature with images & words in a journal they create on the first day of camp. Campers bring a morning snack.
11:00-12:00
Big Thematic Art Project--Each week we have a different theme which we explore through adventurous art projects using a wide array of mixed-media art techniques, stuff we find on the trail, as well as wood, paint, clay, collage & more! Kids build art skills and enjoy the flow and focus of creative work.
12:15
Lunch under the trees--campers bring their own lunch.
12:45-1:30
Camper Choice Activities--We believe that kids should have space to follow their curiosity and interests. In the afternoons campers choose from a changing array of fun and skill-building activities such as drawing with homemade oak gall ink, theater games, navigation and outdoor skills, sports, watercolor painting, fiber arts, gardening, baking and more. At our MUSE location in Calabasas there will be (optional) recreational swim two to three afternoons a week. Our 4-5 year old "Acorns" have activities just for them. Our Middle School Junior Guides may elect to lead activities and also work together to design a weekly all-camp program.
1:45-2:30
Group Play-- Campers gather for all-camp activities--team building games in the field, water games, camp songs, freeze dance and more-- along with time for fruit juice popsicles, watermelon or freshly baked cookies, which we provide.
Group Closing Activities and our ending "Listening Circle." As we gather at the end of camp, we creatively share what we discovered that day--about the environment, each other, ourselves-- and end with a collective group poem, wildly recited by our Wildcraft Guides.

What We Care About...
Our Outcomes articulate how campers will be changed as a result of being at camp. At Camp Wildcraft we design all aspects of our program with our outcomes in mind, from our daily activities, to how to support friendships and teamwork, to how to train counselors.
As a result of spending the summer at Camp Wildcraft campers will:
As a result of spending the summer at Camp Wildcraft campers will:
- Have diverse opportunities for creative, social and emotional growth by building new skills, awareness, friendships and mentoring relationships with responsive adult staff.
- Have a greater comfort in, connection to, and responsibility towards the natural world that surrounds us.
- Develop an enduring sense of wonder, curiosity, confidence and independence nurtured by the creative arts and playful exploration of their environment.
Camp Wildcraft Core Values
Our core camp values, which are intentionally fostered through our activities and relationships with the campers, are Confidence, Creativity, Curiosity, Caring and Connection. We think summer camp is the ideal place to develop and practice these characteristics and values, and build emotional intelligence, through teamwork, exploration, safely pushing limits, and building genuine connections with new friends and caring counselors. The matrix below shows the qualities we strive to foster and develop each week.
Our Campers Make Awesome Art!
As an art and nature camp, we take art-making to new heights. There are no "cookie-cutter" projects here, rather we introduce campers to a surprising range of materials and techniques, unleash their creativity and imagination while building new skills.
